Nathan Benderson Park’s proximity to the Gulf of Mexico has caught the attention of international rowing officials, who said this week that Southwest Florida would be ideal to host two major championships in 2018. USRowing and International Rowing Federation officials visited Sarasota and Bradenton this week for a “check-up visit” ahead of the World Championships slated for 2017.
