The lake at Nathan Benderson Park is three times the size of the site of this year’s world rowing championships. When wind and rain pounded the Netherlands course during the event this past August, water rushed toward one end of the narrow rectangular lake and bounced back, creating eddys in outside lanes that did not materialize in others.
