  • My Hometown Fest

    My Hometown Fest was founded by Sertoma Club of Greater Sarasota in spring 2016 as a fundraiser to support the club’s charitable activities for children and adults. These include Sertoma Kids Speech and Language Center, which serves families regardless of their ability to pay. All profits from My Hometown Fest support the Sertoma Club of Greater Sarasota and Sertoma Kids Speech and Language Center. Both are area nonprofits that serve children and adults struggling with speech, language and hearing challenges. Each year, My Hometown Fest draws thousands of people from Florida’s Suncoast for a day of fun featuring food from dozens of area restaurants, craft beer samples from around the country, and live music from the region’s best bands. The event features plenty of family friendly activities as well. Since its founding in 2016, My Hometown Fest has raised more than $50,000 in direct support for local children and adults battling with speech, language and hearing challenges, and all funds raised during the event stay right here in our area!

  • Florida Scholastic Rowing Assn. Sculling Championships

    Florida Scholastic Rowing Assn. Championships: Sculling April 9-10; Sweeps April 23-24. STREET CLOSURE AND TRAFFIC CHANGES • World Championship Drive will be closed all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday (April 8-10) from the playground south to Athletes Drive. • Regatta event parking will be in the south of the park (turn into the park from North Cattlemen Road at the south boat ramp) for a nominal fee. (Spectators will use the west shore.) • Athlete drop-off will be in the Mote parking lot near the SCAT station — follow the signs through the lot from the traffic circle outside Ford's Garage and the SCAT station.
