USRowing and Nathan Benderson Park are proud to bring the 2025 USRowing Youth National Championships back to Sarasota, Florida again.
USRowing is pleased to announce a series of National Championships, U19 Trials, and Beach Sprint Trials in Sarasota, Florida from June 12-18, 2025. Kicking off the slate of events at Nathan Benderson Park will be the 2025 Youth National Championships beginning on June 12 and running through the 15. This event offers opportunities for crews that have qualified from around the country to come together to crown national champions. The USRowing-produced regatta features more than 3,500 rowers racing for medals in as many as 43 events. In addition to the Youth National Championships, the U19 National Team Trials for the single sculls, pair, and double sculls will occur from June 16-17. As a part of USRowing’s ongoing effort to introduce more athletes to the Beach Sprints discipline ahead of the 2028 LA Olympic Games, the inaugural USRowing Youth Beach Sprints National Championships will take place in 2025 at South Lido Key Beach from June 16-18. Following the national championships, the 2025 Beach Sprint Trials Qualification will run June 20-22 at South Lido Key Beach.
The 2025 Youth National Championships marks the 30th anniversary of the event. It has become one of the most significant youth sporting events in the United States and was awarded the SportsTravel Best Amateur Sports Event in 2023. Over four days, the event attracts over 4,000 athletes and 1,000 coaches, and draws more than 5,000 spectators.
Nathan Benderson Park has hosted multiple USRowing events, including the Olympic Trials and the 2017 World Rowing Championships. In May, athletes will qualify at one of the 2025 USRowing Youth National Championships Qualifying Regattas and end their high school spring seasons with the USRowing Youth National Championships. More information is available on our webpage here.
“Nathan Benderson Park is the ideal venue for Youth Nationals because of its state-of-the-art facilities that ensure safe and fair racing for all,” said Sarah McAuliffe, Director of Competition. “Their ongoing investment in amenities demonstrates a commitment to enhancing the comfort and experience for athletes, coaches, and spectators alike, making it the perfect choice to showcase the future of our sport.”
The U19 Trials are set to take place after the Youth National Championships in order for the national team trial to be more accessible to everyone. The long-term goal of the U.S. National Team Pathways is to develop talent in smaller boats. The U19 Trials at the same location as the Youth National Championships creates an opportunity for cross-pollination of athletes from across the country at Youth Nationals and regionally to compete for a spot on the U19 National team.
The 2025 U19 Trials will begin with practice at Nathan Benderson Park on June 16 followed by time trials on the morning of June 17 and finals in the afternoon.
“We’re looking forward to hosting U19 Trials in the same location as the 2025 Youth National Championships,” said Brett Gorman, Director of High Performance at USRowing. “Our goal is to limit the barriers for the top U19 athletes to compete to represent Team USA in the men’s and women’s single sculls, pair and double sculls events at the 2025 U19 World Championships. Prospective U19 Trials competitors should prioritize training in these boat classes throughout the spring, regardless of whether or not they compete in them at the Youth National Championships.”
The 2025 Beach Sprint Trials will take place at South Lido Key Beach Park in Sarasota on June 20-22. Practice and time trials will run on June 20. Preliminary sprint rounds and finals will take place on June 21 and 22.
USRowing is excited to host two weeks of exciting, competitive, racing events at Nathan Benderson Park and Lido Key Beach in June. We hope to see you on the race course or on the beach.
