Looking for an exciting new way to get active, meet people, and compete on the water? The NBP Dragon Boat Racing League is an eight-week paddling league designed for beginners, returning paddlers, friends, and corporate teams who want to experience the thrill of dragon boat racing—no experience required.
Held at world-class Nathan Benderson Park, this league combines structured weekly practices with professional coaching and culminates in a fun, high-energy Dragon Boat Festival Race Day, where teams compete for the Dragon Boat Community Cup.
What Is Dragon Boat Racing?
Dragon boat racing is a fast-growing paddling sport that blends teamwork, fitness, and adrenaline. Crews paddle in sync to move a long racing boat across the water, powered by rhythm, timing, and teamwork. It’s easy to learn, incredibly fun, and accessible to all fitness levels.
The NBP Dragon Boat Racing League is the perfect introduction to the sport, offering a welcoming, low-pressure environment where participants learn the basics while enjoying the excitement of competition.
Dragon Boat League Program Overview
This 8-week dragon boat racing league includes one coached practice per week, led by experienced and certified dragon boat coaches. Each session includes:
- On-land instruction covering paddling technique and safety
- On-water training focused on timing, teamwork, and race fundamentals
- Progressive skill development leading up to race day
All equipment is provided, including dragon boats, paddles, and lifejackets. Participants are grouped into crews, creating an instant team and community on the water.
Train & Race Program (Individual Registration)
Perfect for individuals or small groups who want to try dragon boat racing without committing to a full team.

$175 per person (plus applicable fees and taxes)
Create Your Own Dragon Boat Crew

Team Entry:
- 20 paddlers per crew
- Dedicated team experience from training through race day
Cost:
$3,000 per team ($150 per paddler)
