The programs feature industry-leading and award-winning playwrights\, visual artists\, musicians\, poets\, choreographers\, and more  \nHermitage Sunsets @ Benderson Park: “Making Songs and Making Sense\,” featuring Hermitage Fellow Michael R. Jackson\, Thursday\, April 30 @ 6:30pm \nPulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright\, composer\, and Hermitage Fellow Michael R. Jackson exploded into the public consciousness with the premiere of his celebrated musical A Strange Loop\, which transferred to Broadway after an acclaimed run at Playwrights Horizons. The New York Times described Jackson’s work as “so unexpected\, contrarian\, and maximalist that I spend a lot of time between them wondering what he’ll do next” – so if you’re in the audience at this Hermitage program\, you might just get a ‘sneak peek’ of what that will be! A returning Hermitage Fellow\, Jackson has previously shared selections from A Strange Loop and his musical White Girl in Danger with Hermitage audiences. This time\, Jackson will offer insight into his latest work and his creative process. Presented in partnership with Nathan Benderson Park Conservancy.  \nReturning Hermitage Fellow Michael R. Jackson was named as one of Time Magazine‘s “100 Most Influential People” of 2022. His Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical A Strange Loop received 11 Tony Award nominations and was called “a full-on laparoscopy of the heart\, soul\, and loins” as well as a “gutsy\, jubilantly anguished musical with infectious melodies” by The New York Times. In addition to A Strange Loop\, Jackson also wrote book\, music\, and lyrics for White Girl in Danger\, the book and lyrics for Teeth\, and the libretto for the opera Complications In Sue\, which had its world premiere at Opera Philadelphia in 2026. Awards and associations include: a New Professional Theatre Festival Award\, a Jonathan Larson Grant\, a Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Award\, an ASCAP Foundation Harold Adamson Award\, a Whiting Award\, the Helen Merrill Award for Playwriting\, an Outer Critics Circle Award\, a Drama Desk Award\, an Obie Award\, a Fred Ebb Award\, a Windham-Campbell Prize\, a Dramatist Guild Fellowship\, and a Hermitage Fellowship. Class will primarily focus on SHiNE Dance and will occasionally include Uplift Strength Training \nSHiNE DANCE FITNESS: \nSHiNE Dance Fitness is A high-cardio dance fitness class that incorporates current hit music and choreographed routines designed to boost confidence and strength while providing a full-body workout. Our unique workout program combines dance with fitness\, making exercise enjoyable and engaging. We focuses on various dance styles\, including jazz\, ballet\, and hip-hop\, to create a high-energy workout experience. SHiNE Dance Fitness emphasizes community and connection among our members. We aim to make workouts feel like a fun social event rather than a chore. Our classes promote mental health alongside physical fitness\, encouraging participants to enjoy the process of moving their bodies. \n  \nUPLIFT STRENGTH TRAINING: \nAn UPLIFT class starts with a cardio warm-up and transitions to standing routines with equipment\, alternating between upper and lower body. A balance track is included after you’ve fatigued your muscles which is challenging\, rewarding\, and a welcome change of pace before transitioning to the mat. We complete the workout with routines for the core\, booty\, abs\, and chest and a cool down with deep stretching. This UPLIFTING experience leaves you feeling strong and confident.

The long-term goal of the U.S. National Team Pathways is to develop talent in smaller boats. The U19 Trials at the same location as the Youth National Championships creates an opportunity for cross-pollination of athletes from across the country at Youth Nationals and regionally to compete for a spot on the U19 National team.  The 2026 U19 Trials will begin with practice at Nathan Benderson Park. \nThe 2026 Beach Sprint Trials will take place at South Lido Key Beach Park in Sarasota from June 16-17.  USRowing is excited to host two weeks of exciting\, competitive\, racing events at Nathan Benderson Park and Lido Key Beach in June. We hope to see you on the race course or on the beach. \n\nAbout Youth National Championships\, U19 Trials & Beach Sprint Trials\nUSRowing is pleased to announce a series of National Championships\, U19 Trials\, and Beach Sprint Trials in Sarasota\, Florida from June 12-18\, 2025. Kicking off the slate of events at Nathan Benderson Park will be the 2025 Youth National Championships beginning on June 12 and running through the 15. This event offers opportunities for crews that have qualified from around the country to come together to crown national champions. The USRowing-produced regatta features more than 3\,500 rowers racing for medals in as many as 43 events. In addition to the Youth National Championships\, the U19 National Team Trials for the single sculls\, pair\, and double sculls will occur from June 16-17. As a part of USRowing’s ongoing effort to introduce more athletes to the Beach Sprints discipline ahead of the 2028 LA Olympic Games\, the USRowing Youth Beach Sprints National Championships will take place in 2026 at South Lido Key Beach. \n\n\n\n
