There’s room for you in the boat! \nCome learn about Nathan Benderson Park’s world-class paddling program and take a spin — no strings attached\, no fee involved — as a paddler for the morning Aug. 27. Meet us on Regatta Island\, down by the boat storage/launch docks. \nYou’ll start with on-land training\, proper fit of a personal flotation device and paddle\, and then get an on-the-water orientation. \nAnyone and everyone in our community is welcome\, and the NBP Paddling Program includes competitive and recreational opportunities. On race days\, paddlers divide into categories for men\, women\, breast-cancer survivors\, all-cancer survivors\, military veterans\, seniors\, and more. \nThe NBP Paddling Program earned six world championships at the International Dragon Boat Federation Club Crew World Championships in July. DESCRIPTION:The 2022 USRowing Southeast Youth Championships will take place May 14-15 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota\, Fla. This year’s regatta once again will serve as a qualification regatta for the USRowing Youth National Championships. Check the USRowing website for more details. \nNo VIP parking. Handicap parking will be available. \nSTREET CLOSURE AND TRAFFIC CHANGES\n• World Championship Drive will be closed all day Friday\, Saturday and Sunday (April 8-10) from the playground south to the 500-meter restroom.\n• Athletes Drive will be closed to car traffic from Honore Avenue to World Championship Drive.\n• Regatta event parking will be in the south of the park (turn into the park from North Cattlemen Road at the south boat ramp) for a nominal fee. (Spectators will use the west shore.)\n• Athlete drop-off will be in the Mote parking lot near the SCAT station — follow the signs through the lot from the traffic circle outside Ford’s Garage and the SCAT station.
