Director of Marketing

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Marketing for the Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates (SANCA) at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida will be an integral member of the management team, responsible for developing and executing the organization’s marketing strategy to build a brand, support sales, development, and increase awareness.  Joining the team at an important transitional moment, the Director of Marketing will report to the CEO/President and work closely with the COO, Director of Development and marketing committee to implement a thoughtful and strategic marketing and communications plan and will immediately focus on the following priorities:
·Building the SANCA brand through all our online, collateral and marketing materials and events.
·Maximize public support for operations, programming, and enhancement of the park and SANCA’s projects and events.
·Partner to build awareness of the park as a recreational, cultural, environmental and sport tourism destination locally, and out of market.  

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
SANCA seeks a marketing/communications professional with a minimum of five years of progressive job experience. The successful applicant will be an outstanding communicator, creative thinker and a thoughtful leader to imagine a marketing and communications plan that will advance all of the organization’s initiatives and develop and position our brand to our various audiences. The successful candidate will be well organized and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to build consensus and nurture relationships among constituents at all levels, while promoting a collaborative and collegial work environment. 

The successful candidate will have had senior level marketing and communications experience in a team environment. He/she will:
§  have a proven record in developing and implementing multi-faceted marketing campaigns with direct positive impact to organization’s sales goals
§  have worked as part of a marketing team, if not as the leader of such an effort.
§  possess the knowledge of brand building and raising organizational awareness.
§  be experienced in communications, media relations, direct mail, social media and public relations.
§ ideally have worked with a development department to support capital campaign and annual giving initiatives. 
§ experience in sports and event marketing is a strong plus.   .


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
§Oversee the development, roll-out and maintain brand guidelines for SANCA, Nathan Benderson Park and all event properties, carrying through all departments of the organization. 
§Oversee all external communications, including content for all social media outlets, digital media, website, newsletters, annual reports, presentations and marketing & promotions materials and initiatives. 
§Oversee ongoing media relations for major/special events, programs and projects.  Ensure ongoing and effective outreach to the local and national media, and maximize media events and press conferences. 
§Communicate park operations and emergency announcements to the public across various platforms.
§Position the CEO as the primary spokesman of the organization in the community, ensuring a presence at community events, media, chamber events and generating regular speaking engagements. 
§Support the development department with messaging, promotional materials, digital support and other marketing related needs. 
§Develop and implement promotions and advertising plans for all programs, events, placemaking, and activities at the park. 
§Develop and implement public relations and promotions plan to build awareness of the park and its amenities with the goal of increasing park utilization and placemaking.
§Assure development and maintenance of a high quality, signage plan for the park and manage brand and content of temporary signs, banners and informational kiosks throughout the year.
§Build and maintain inventory and archives of on-brand video and photography assets of the Park and activities at the park. 
§Assure on-brand production of all promotional materials, products, apparel and awards.  
§Develop, implement and execute internal and external communications plans and maintain consistent and effective messaging on-line through all means of social media.
§Work closely with the CEO and COO to develop the annual report and business plan. 
§Serve as the marketing liaison for major events including compliance with commercial rights, advertising/promotions, ticketing, brand management, television and broadcasting, merchandising, digital and social media, development of print and digital materials, development of announcer scripts, visual documentation, hospitality/VIP relations and media. 
§Remain active with area chambers and other community and professional organizations, representing the organization at networking functions.
§Other duties as assigned.
